Making Batteries Last

Tips for Longest Life Use of Batteries

  1. Turn off any battery-operated appliances when not in use.

  2. Remove batteries from appliances if they are not going to be used for a long time.

  3. To prevent a potential safety hazard, do not mix old batteries with new ones. This can avoid leaking or rupturing possibilities, resulting in injury or property damage.

  4. Do not recharge a battery unless it is specifically marked rechargeable. Attempting to recharge a non-rechargeable battery can cause it to leak or rupture.

  5. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire, it may cause them to explode.

  6. Do not open battery casings.

  7. Do not insert batteries backwards into any device.

Rechargeable batteries containing cadmium or lead should be recycled.
